Bailiffs evict defiant duo from properties from clearance estate

They are now being housed in temporary accommodation.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council took ownership of the privately-rented homes on Monday and started court action to force the tenants out.

Between them, David and Connie had rejected more than 30 council offers of alternative accommodation.

They were adamant they wanted to remain next-door neighbours when they moved.

David, aged 60, and Connie, aged 55, lived in Dimsdale Street, part of the Slater Street area which was earmarked for clearance in May 2006. Read More:
