Haringey Council rubber-stamped the new rules, brought in to combat nightmare neighbours, non-payment of rent and other tenancy breaches.
No new tenants will get a secure tenancy to start with, having to sign a 12-month trial contract instead which requires them to be a good neighbour.
If they fall foul of it, they can be evicted much quicker than previously by Haringey Council and Homes for Haringey (HfH), which manages the borough’s 21,000 council housing properties.
If they behave themselves, they will be moved onto a secure tenancy at the end of the trial - but the contract can be extended for a further six months if there are concerns about the tenant’s conduct. Read More:
