Council drops director of housing role to save money

Brent council has axed the role of director of housing in order to save money. Officers at the London council voted through a proposal to remove the position after the former director of housing, Martin Cheeseman, retired earlier this year. Responsibility for housing will now fall to Andy Donald, director of regeneration and major projects, and will include the running of the council's arm's length management organisation Brent Housing Partnership. Community care will fall to Allison Elliot, who will become director of adult social services. According to a report on the changes, removing the post will save £174,000 for the part year and bring full year savings of £190,000 from 2012/2013 onwards. Read More:
