Work and pensions minister Iain Duncan Smith has denied reports that the government is considering a u-turn on the £26,000 benefits cap, following claims it will force families out of expensive areas such as London. Duncan Smith was responding to rumours that emerged after welfare reform minister Lord Freud detailed a list of exemptions from the cap, including those with a disability. The benefit cap is intended to ensure that families on benefits do not receive more than working families on low incomes. Read More:
