The row between Lord Freud and the property industry over the coalition’s housing benefit cuts escalated today when the Minister for Welfare Reform accused residential landlords of “inflating their prices” for benefit claimants
Freud has persistently blamed private sector investors for the rise in housing benefit bills but was attacked yesterday by the British Property Federation for "fiddling" the government's own research to support its controversial reforms.
