Bearing in mind the cuts contained in the Government’s Welfare Reform Bill, 58% of landlords questioned said they would reduce the number of properties let to benefit recipients, with 90% of this group planning to do so in the next 18 months, and one third taking action immediately.
In addition, over 80% of respondents expressed concern about the proposed reduction of Local Housing Allowance (LHA) rates, with a similar proportion worried about future LHA increases being linked to the Consumer Price Index, rather than true market rents.
